CostBuddies Analytics
The numbers behind the kitchen
The problem
A recipe-costing system tells you what one dish costs. It does not tell you the more useful thing: which part of the menu is carrying the business, and which part is quietly eroding it.
That question needs data across time and across the menu — not one calculation at a time.
What we observed
Before we wrote any code.
Useful analytics start from a question, not from a chart.
We began with the three questions kitchen owners actually ask: which dish has the thinnest margin, which ingredient's price is least stable, and whether overall cost is moving up or down this month. Every view in the module answers one of them.
Usage tracking is cookieless and self-hosted — customer data does not leave their own server to reach a third party.
What we built
A rebuilt admin backend for CostBuddies with a usage/traffic analytics engine: peak hours, top features, and cost trends rendered in a premium dashboard.
Before vs after
The same job, the old way and the new way.

Results
Counted from the production database on 29 August 2026. Analytics are self-hosted; nothing is sent to a third-party service.
