Moody

Mental health check-in and self-therapy

The problem

Most mental-health apps ask the user to describe how they feel in full sentences. On the worst days — the days the app is most needed — that is exactly the hardest thing to do.

So the barrier was never a missing feature. It was the effort required to start one entry.

What we observed

Before we wrote any code.

A daily check-in has to finish in seconds or it will not happen.

The first screen asks one thing: how you feel right now. Everything else — notes, triggers, exercises — is optional and comes after.

Data like this is sensitive. It is stored so the user owns it, not so it can be analysed by someone else.

What we built

Moody lets someone check in on how they feel, take validated screening tests (depression, anxiety, stress, panic, sleep, social anxiety), work through guided self-therapy activities, and find a psychiatrist or therapist near them. Built for people who would never walk into a clinic first.

Before vs after

The same job, the old way and the new way.

Before

Feelings written in a notes app, or not written at all
Patterns across a week are invisible
Other apps ask for too much for a single entry

After

A daily check-in finishes in seconds
Weekly patterns are visible without rereading every entry
Self-help exercises are there when wanted, never forced

Results

6
screening tests built in
5
mood states tracked per check-in
Self-therapy
guided activity library
